Session 4: Innovations in Inclusion and Access for Latinx Students in Study Abroad
Latinx students represent the largest growing college student demographic, doubling in the last two decades. Although Latinx students represent 20% of US college students, they make up just 10% of the study abroad student population. In this session, presenters from three diverse institutions will share their creative initiatives and resources to increase Latinx student participation in study abroad and support them throughout the process.

From the development of cultural-heritage-based faculty-led programs, to integrating COIL courses into the curriculum, to creating resources in Spanish and Portuguese for students and their families, this session will provide an overview of sustainable and replicable initiatives focused on Latinx students. These initiatives are all supported with funding from the U.S. Department of State’s IDEAS grant.
